Why Buy a Cherished Registration?

There are only so many things
you can do to personalize your car. If you don’t want to respray it a unique colour, stick fluffy toys on the windows, or turn it into a customized low-rider, an easy option is to buy a Cherished Registration.

An old-style registration makes a great present for the one you love! And I am happy to help if you want it to be a surprise.

Cherished plates are a classic investment that you can use and enjoy while they appreciate in value. I sold 6655 SM to my accountant in 1985 for £500; I re-sold it for him for £3000 in 2005.

The suffix year letter plates I specialize in here are a particularly good investment, as they are such a bargain to buy from me – even DVLA will not sell plates at such low prices!

Birth-year plates are very popular. In 1963, a suffix year letter ‘A’ was added to registration marks; in 1964 it was ‘B’ and so on; eg If you were born in 1970, look for an ‘H’ reg.

Each local Licensing Authority issues certain series of initials. Eg Brighton issues JUF, MUF, etc. If you come from Sussex you might like a local plate.

Many scooter owners buy my 1960’s plates to give their more modern scooters a classic sixties look. It’s the perfect finishing touch for a retro vehicle.

Dealers often put these cheap plates on a car before they sell it. It makes it much easier to sell a second hand car.

But mostly, folks buy my plates because they are cheap. And because nondescript euro-style modern registrations are boring and tell everyone else the age of the car.

It’s so much easier to remember your registration number when it’s one of these old numbers. If you fancy one of these nostalgic 1960’s or 1970’s cherished registrations, check through my list and when you find one you like, please get in touch.
